This generous tribute comes from Don Burrows, an Australian icon, unsurpassed jazz musician and educator, whose lifetime of performing and teaching achievements, including his time as the Director of Jazz Studies at The Sydney Conservatorium, are now legendary.
The Bamboos are Australia's masters of Deep Funk and Super-Heavy Soul.
Led by Guitarist Lance Ferguson (AKA Lanu), other members include Kylie Auldist (Vocals), Dustin McLean (Hammond Organ), Danny Farrugia (Drums), Yuri Pavlinov (Bass), Anton Delecca (Tenor Saxophone/Flute), Phil Noy (Baritone Saxophone) & Ross Irwin (Trumpet).
Ari Hoenig (born on November 13, 1973 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), is a jazz drummer, composer and educator known for his unusual and intense approach to drumming emphasizing complex rhythms in direct harmony with other group members. Ari is widely noted particularly for his drumming not being relegated to just keeping tempo, or being a side issue to the music he plays in, but rather for elevating drumming as an indispensable part of the performance.
