9 October 2009 - Update York Jazz

Paul Sloan, Festival Director here with an update for you.

There seems to be a few conspiracy theories developing out there (thanks Howard Sattler!) and we thought is sensible to clear up any misunderstandings and to update you on the facts about York Jazz and the minor program changes that have occurred this week.

Due to general sales and some venue niggles and in order to preserve the quality of the atmosphere and production of the 2009 York Jazz Festival event we decided to condense it into a three stage affair (plus the inaugural York Jazz Festival boutique markets on Peace Park).

With fewer stages/performance slots overall we have had to trim a couple of minor artists from the bill so please see below for final complete program.

You’ll notice that the majority of the world class bill with multiple Grammy award nominees and some amazing underground and emerging talent across all the various jazz and jazz influenced styles are still primed and ready to play for you in York on October 24 and 25.

There’ll also be various activity in the pubs and galleries of York and the odd street performer to guarantee a memorable weekend.

We are very much looking forward to the event and can’t wait to get there!

The YORK JAZZ & SOUL FESTIVAL 2009 line up is going to be the absolutely best ever and includes a blend of established and emerging Australian and International jazz & soul artists across five stages covering traditional jazz, be-bop, improvisational jazz, modern jazz, dixieland, soul, youth jazz, swing, gospel, funk, nu-jazz and everything in between.
